SAGICOR Exodus
Participant - World Festival,  New York 2005

Exodus was formed in May 1981 by pannists who were part of another steelband (Flamingoes) from St. Augustine which is located approximately seven miles from the capital, Port of Spain. This was in fact the short story of how the Band got its name.

From inception, Exodus began making its presence felt in the steelband world in that, a short nine months later, the Band participated in the 1982 Panorama Competitions and placed 8th in the National Finals. From hereon Exodus continued positioning itself as the leading steelband in the world.

The Band's first major achievement however came when it won the 1992 National Panorama Competition with a Pelham Goddard composition of "Savannah Party". Since then there was no looking back for this Band. Exodus went on to win all major steelband competitions both internationally and in Trinidad and Tobago.

Over the years, the Band has won Trinidad and Tobago's Steelband Music Festival on three occasions, the Caribbean Panorama Competition, and is at present the reigning World Steelband Music Festival Champions. Since 2001 Exodus has won three of five Trinidad and Tobago National Panorama Competition - 2001, 2003 and 2004.

This Band has been an unsponsored steelband for all of its existence until just last year when they were very pleased to welcome aboard Sagicor Life and General as their sponsors for the future.

Sagicor Exodus is also the holder of Trinidad and Tobago's 2nd highest National Award, the Chaconia Gold Medal.
